Resolution
Is The Solution
WCPP
staff designs workshops to conform to a group's specific need. We
have facilitated workshops that have focused on bringing police and
young people together to talk about how each group sees the other and
how to bridge the gap between the two.
Skilled facilitators engage the participants in the process
and achieve positive outcomes. WCPP-designed workshops have also taught young people how to create their own animations and cd's, focusing on an anti-violence theme.
| From
a student: “One of the questions we asked kids was,
do you think that cops Dis kids? Before I met with the cops, I thought
that they definitely did. I always thought of the cops as harassing
kids. When I had the chance to talk to the cops, I changed my mind.
I understand now that you can’t judge all cops because of
what one or two bad apples do. That wouldn’t be fair. It would
be like being a racist.” |

| From
a police officer, 24th Precinct: “This is a great
program—it gives us the chance to communicate directly with
the students in the neighborhood and the opportunity to relate to
the kids in a relaxed atmosphere. I like finding out how the young
people are thinking, too. It’s a rare opportunity.” |
